Placer and Lode Gold Mining Claims In Idaho
While there are many "clear creeks" in Idaho named after their clean, transparent waters, this particular Clear Creek is just outside the historic town of Idaho City in the famous Boise Basin and very near the old mining ghost town of Pioneerville. Clear Creek is a gold-bearing tributary of Grimes Creek (one of Idaho's most sought-after drainages for placer claims) and is fed by the mineral deposits of both Wilson Peak and Jackson Peak. For more information about the mining history of places like Clear Creek, please read about the Boise basin here.
